Ash, Ash Green and Tongham are part of the Guildford borough council area, but are in the Surrey Heath parliamentary constituency.
Most of the parish of Ash is in the council ward of Ash Wharf but the southern bit of it is together with Tongham and Ash Green in the Ash South and Tongham council ward. Ash Vale to the north is a separate council ward entirely and is dealt with separately on this website.
In the Ash South and Tongham by-election in December 2013, which was caused by the resignation of the Conservative borough council leader, our candidate Alan Hilliar massively improved our performance and came a strong second with twice as many votes as 3rd place UKIP - up from our fourth place in May 2015 - serving notice to the Conservatives that the days of their one-party state in Ash and Tongham is numbered.
